This is a question I get asked a lot and honestly, it depends on so many different factors such as; demographics, the two different personalities, the support system for the relationship, and the quality of the relationship itself. Unlike regular relationship, Long distance relationship requires a lot more work, and compromise from both parties. That is why a lot of people stay away from it completely. If you are the type of person who is extremely clingy and deserves a lot of attention, then this isn’t for you. Being in a long distance relationship can be frustrating at times, and even make you doubt the relationship but if your heat is in it and you both are doing your part to make it work then it will work. Distance doesn’t have to act like a bucket of cold water on your relationship, but you do need to take pains to make it work and to ensure that you’re together at important times.

My boyfriend and I normally go for months without seeing each other; the longest was 5 months. Is it easy? of course not, but that’s what works for us. We’ve made a promise to visit one another as often as we can. It doesn’t matter who does the travel, but as long as we can see each other. we both have a busy schedule, but since his work is more demanding than mine, I will be the one doing most of the travel until we close the distance. One way we like to compromise is by helping each other with the travel expenses. for instance, if I have to be the one to go see him, then he will offer to pay for my plane tickets.

To answer the question, you should try to see your partner as often as you can. No matter how in love you are with the person, physical intimacy is a must. I’m not just talking about sex; romance, cuddling, and intimacy are all just as vital to a healthy relationship. I understand that travel isn’t cheap these days, and that’s especially true if you and your partner live far enough apart that flights are the only logical way to meet up. As often as possible, plan your visits in advance and flexible with the dates. Another thing you can do is set up flight alerts for low-cost travel options in hopes of finding reasonable flights.

Nothing beat the feeling of finally see your partner after a month or two, the excitement is unreal.
